Wiki Wiki I need Help!!!

Hello everyone

I am having a problem - I can't seem for the life of me fathom out a wiki! do I go directly to wikipaedia and search for relevant information on there? I have searched google and not found 1 wiki that would be useful to the groups they are asking for in task 1..aahhhhh help :-)  I must be so dumb or am I missing out on something.

Although I did find a good wiki on wikipaedia Researc "Finding Information" it gives you a step by step guide to finding the information required, how to locate literature and interloans including external links to resources.  I thought this would be useful to all groups mentioned in task ! Thing 3

If anyone is interested and would like a  peek then copy this link and paste it into your web browser: http://wikieducator.org/Finding_information_-_literature_searching  Oh I am so excited, I just figured how to do a link on Blogger! yippee

Tweets

Well, looks like I'm going to have to Tweet at home - ICT has blocked the usage of Twittering on site!

What a shame, as I would like to use Twitter for numerous things, such as, helping to promote the library by posting information and latest news to our library users, including URLs that maybe of interest to them.

In addition, to the above I would like to keep uptodate with whats happening in the library world, by following other posts relating to libraries with the latest news, and any upcoming events I would be interested in attending, which in turn, could be beneficial to help develop and enhance my existing library skills (well, I could only try) Sammy :-)

RSS feed

I think I have surprised myself after tackling through this task - I actually managed to follow the instructions clearly without encountering any problems!  The only issue I have at the moment is that I tend to get lost with all the different windows that open, such as, the instructions for the course, blogging page, google reader and thats where I get confused (I'm thinking of purchasing a compass to navigate around all the different aspects of this course).  However, with using the RSS feeds it looks like we can manage quite a lot on one page..thanks to google reader.

I would like to use the feeds for our library newsletters which would give our readers the opportunity to comment and feedback to us - yet again IT issues, RSS feeds are not available via the Trusts intranet! no surprises there then.

The after blog

So far, after reading a few blogs I am surprised of the many different reasons why people joined the programme.  Some are looking forward to the "presentation" and "web 2" sections, also, many have already had experience at blogging, to which I have had none, and I even managed to demonstrate my inexperience by deleting all my bloggs by mistake! At the beginning of blogging I did have an issue I could not get my head around until today after deletion:-) was that everytime I clicked on something it opened in another window which confused me at first because I kept pressing the back button and going nowhere. They say practice makes perfect - I can honestly say that I am now officially a "Fully Quailfied Blogger!"

I am so looking forward to the next task, especially the presentation module once this is completed, I will be using the skills and information gained from this by putting together mini presentations on various aspects of the library to advise and support users.

Ooops

Just when I thought things were going well - I have accidently deleted my blog alongside the comments!!  Oh well they say practice makes perfect and look on the bright side of things, I am getting the experience :-) Sammy
